Mayor Daley Names Ray Arias To Chicago Career
Tech’s Advisory Board

Chicago, IL February 23, 2010 - At the request of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Ray Arias, president of Arias Information Solutions, LLC, will be serving on a specialized board to invest $25 million into reaching the city’s 30,000 unemployed to retrain for today’s tech-driven economy.

The Chicago Career Tech Advisory Board, organized in February, will be guided by World Business Chicago to develop CCT into a nonprofit working with the city’s unemployed by partnering with the private sector on training and workforce opportunities.

"Middle income, laid-off workers make up half of the unemployed population, yet are largely left out of public programs aimed at supporting and retraining dislocated workers,” Daley said in his letter to Arias. “Investing in these workers … will make Chicago more attractive to prospective employers, while keeping thousands from joining the ranks of the long-term unemployed."

In response, Arias said he is honored to serve on the advisory board headed by Mayor Daley. In addition to being the only Latino named to the board, Arias brings his years of professional expertise and leadership in the technical software field and his commitment to the minority community to this job training effort.

"I see it is as my responsibility to do whatever I can to bring more jobs and keep more talented Chicagoans from leaving the area," Arias said.

Daley counted Arias among an "exceptional cross section of leaders," calling his expertise "essential to the program."
